Primobaritono......Amato's version really hits the mark....somehow, I prefer Gobbi as a dramatic baritone....his Scarpia and Iago are hard to top.

Primobaritono.....while Stracciari certainly has an elegant delivery(would love to hear him sing " Il Balen..." from Trovatore)....Tita Ruffo has the raw sensual power demanded of this character.

Primobaritono.....Tibbett clearly for the win! Milnes rendition is full of over acting, aspirations and gasps....although I did like his Iago...Tibbett has really studied this character.

A fascinating contrast between two magnificent voices, each perfect for their respective role. I always loved Neri’s dark, massive, ancient sounding voice, which envelops the orchestra, and, to my ear anyways Siepi has a brighter, more focused timbre which sounds like it can cut through the orchestra like butter. How I wish I could have see them in person to get a true assessment
